on the scene for just a little while and join us with the details. >> reporter: good morning. it is still kite an active scene. you can see behind me lots of firefighters still here on the scene trying to put out hot spots in this high-rise building. if you take a look, can you see the residents in this apartment building have been evacuated and are still waiting out here at the scene just trying to get word about whether or not they can get back in. i can tell you right now, this is what we he know so far. the fire started at about 4:00 this morning. firefighters are telling me it started on the fisk floor of this apartment building. it appears as though they're telling us that it started from a trash fire inside of a stairwell on the fisk floor. it spread pretty quickly. there was a lot of smoke from what i was hearing from everybody here on the scene. lots of people trying to run for safety. i can tell you right now the late we are hearing is that they took seven people to the hospital. we understand from one person that was if critical condition, all adults from what we understand but ther
. i'm sarah simmons in for gurvir dhindsa. >> i'm steve chenevey. glad you're with us. welcome to fox 5 morning news on this thursday morning. let's get a look at that forecast for today. tucker barnes joins us with hopefully more good news. >> okay news. we've got more clouds than yesterday. not going to be picture perfect like it was. a little warmer than yesterday. a little more humid as well. we are going to have a gorgeous weekend with more details on that coming up. we'll talk about current conditions and we are in the 60s generally across the area here in town. humidity, 57%. wind are out of the east at six miles per hour. pressure is falling just a little bit. i mentioned cloud cover. can you see it streaming in here from the west. what this is is a warm front. it will be noticeably more humid. still not bad by summer standards but after the perfect weather we had around here the last couple of days, more clouds in the forecast. the rain should hold off until the nighttime hours particularly overnight into tomorrow morning. at lea

simmons in for gurvir dhindsa. >> i'm steve chenevey. thank you for being with us. let's say hello to tony perkins. how is it looking out there? >> still wet from the rain we had overnight and last night. still cloud out there but we'll see gradual clearing as the morning goes on. let's take a look at what is happening. we'll start with the current conditions being reported at reagan national airport where right now it is in the 70s. 73degrees at reagan national. relative humidity, 68%. those wind are out of the west at 15 miles per hour so it is breezy. barometric pressure has been falling. right now, we are just left with some clouds. they will be pushing out as the morning progresses and we'll see i think a good amount of sunshine in the latter part of the day. the forecast for today look like this, becoming mostly sunny gradually. cooler this afternoon. cooler than it was yesterday is what we mean. look for a high of about 84 degrees. that is actually above normal but still cooler than yesterday. more details coming up in just a little bi

. >> i'm steve chenevey welcome to fox 5 morning news on the day after election day. tony perkins with us as well. >> good morning to both of you. a fine day on tap. once again, we've got good weather conditions headed our way for the day. we'll see a lot of sunshine, i think more sunshine than what we saw yesterday. let's take a look at the current temperatures around the region. getting five cool to mild start depending on where you are. temperatures in the 50s and 60s. right now in washington where it is 64 degrees. it is 56 in baltimore. 55 out at dulles airport. 54 in frederick, maryland and 57 in fredericksburg so it is a cool start to the day with mostly clear skies. there is a look at your satellite-radar. saw some of the clouds that came through yesterday. they pushed out of here. skies are mainly clear at this hour and mostly cloud-free for the day today. there will be a couple of clouds here and there but we'll call it a partly to mostly sunny day. mostly sunny is what we're going to call it. here is your day planner. looking for highs today in the low to mid-80s. very pleasant
